I'm back. Not like anyone cares. And I've been back for a while...

...Not like anyone cares.

I never preplan for Nanowrimo. I won't this year either, but I sure don't feel ready for it. There's been people planning for months. I haven't been. But I have a couple stories.

I have stories that want to be told.

Last year's Nanowrimo, for example--the Legend of Scarecrow. It needs a new name and a full rewrite. I know how it ends, and I wrote the end, though I didn't write the full story. I've got a month to do it in. It shouldn't be hard since I'm working from prewritten material... and it DOES get better as it goes... but it'd be so much easier if I had an honest reader. Someone who would listen when I say I know that this and that and that is wrong, and...

Oh, fine, just for you invisible readers.

The beginning is all tell, not show. It's pretty flat. I rewrote it and it's way better. It's an "action" beginning but since I never preplan anything, I was developing it as it went, during a couple word wars to kick off the night. I thought I was writing satire, so it felt like badly written fantasy. Then it developed.

There's things said that don't help the plot along and then, there's things I didn't bring up enough. I couldn't help it, I wrote all of the "italics" scenes in present tense. And in italics. Why? To seperate them from the story. And I just liked present tense. The only person whose novel I was reading as she wrote it--and she was reading mine--was doing hers in present tense and it was pretty cool, so I decided to write some of mine in present tense just because it GETS IN YOUR HEAD! (dies) As I go along, even though I use present tense and stuff more, the story gets way better, wayyy richer. Well, it did after the end of phrase one, where I stopped writing chapter breaks in so much and just started writing. But it still needs work.

Then I'm also doing a fanfic which I WANT to finish! I haven't fanficced in ages and I want to do something 'fun' rather than something I'd like to really have to polish for publishing, if that makes sense... I'll stick it on fanfic.net and Jedi.net (well, it's there now) and that is all. Then I have the story of Blue.

I started her story in August, for Nanomango, so she has a few roughly sketched out graphic novel pages--10, to be exact--mostly in bad pencil. It was inspired by the trailer for I Know Who Killed Me--which, incidentially, the trailer contained a lot of GREAT material that Hollywood obviously ruined (I searched for ages to find out how the plot really ended up going to see if my inspired version of it was original. It was. Too bad for Hollywood. They turned a great idea into porn with a lammo cheap cliche plot. See, I found a few reviews and made some guesses on what they'd do... would the boyfriend be the 'killer'? Would the girl be the killer herself and have actually just been insane the whole time?! Was it the PARENTS?!?! Of course not. Nothing even that interestingly cheesy. o_o That would've been too nice. ANNNNNNNND they used the 'twins but didn't know it' plot again too.)

Sad, isn't it.

But I saw the trailers on MuchMusic, the TV channel. That trailer drew me in. Heck, I'd get a copy of it, that trailer was amazing. It was a great use of hooks. I knew by the bad B-movie title it'd be a bad movie, and I know now the trailer probably had the only good parts of the movie in it... but for me, as a cynical writer, it's hard for me to get drawn in by a trailer. You have to really get my attention. The story they offered did. It still does. Maybe I'll write Blue's story for Nanowrimo... the graphic novel pages don't count as prewriting, really... O_o Outlining, maybe... because I know how I want that story to end. I want to take that premise STILL... there's a murder in school. A couple days later, the MC is killed. A couple weeks later, they find her, nearly dead, but she's rescued by l337 medical technology... and has no idea what they're talking about when they call her by name. She persists. She is NOT FMC...

Hmm. Maybe I'll write some more stuff out here for what I want to do for the story of Blue. Or maybe not. It's just a Nanowrimo idea, though... oh well, I'll carry on to the next post so that it's more seperate thingy... yeah.
